He Is Risen – Three things you must do – Resurrection Sunday

We considered the resurrection story and the events that happened before and after the women went to the tomb. Mary Magdalene and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James and other women went to the tomb with spices early in the morning to do their duty. You can refer to this in Luke 24: 1-10.

Listen to the sermon below

Mary Magdalene and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James and other women went to the tomb with spices early in the morning to do their duty. You can refer to this in Luke 24: 1-10.

  • The tomb was empty and they saw an angel and were perplexed. If Jesus is precious to us, we will not be afraid.
  • The women went in faith even though they did not know who will roll away the stone. We need to step out in faith now and not wait for all the lines to fall into place and God almighty will make a way.
  • Jesus on the third day according to the prophecy rose. Death could not hold Jesus back, he destroyed the shackles of death. He did not rise because he was Jesus son of God. He rose because he followed the word of the lord – Hebrews 1:9 – the lord anointed Jesus will the oil of gladness because he loved righteousness and hated iniquity.

3 things that will help us to rise

Many people desire to rise but we must have these three things in our lives if we want to fulfill our destiny.

  1. Totally surrender to Jesus.
Luke:22:29, 42 – if we must rise we must learn to pray. If we don’t pray you become a prey to the enemy. The enemy of our soul looks for people to destroy but God is looking for people that he will make himself strong in their lives. If we are to experience the power of resurrection, we must totally surrender to Jesus. We cannot serve Jesus on a Sunday and serve man the rest of the week, we cannot belong to two camps. Sometimes our surrender is partial but the lord wants total surrender.
  2. We must forgive
Luke23:33 – Jesus the one who had committed no sin was was between two thieves on the cross and said father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. To forgive means to release and to not take revenge. The route of forgiveness can cause problems in one’s life. Who are the “thems” in our life that we must forgive to rise? We usually forgive when one asks for forgiveness. Christian forgiveness is given when not requested. Vengeance is for God; he is the only one that can repay.
  3. Jesus rose because he committed his spirit to God. Luke 23: 46 – father into thy hand I commit my spirit. We need to be sanctified and dedicated unto the lord and we will experience the power of resurrection.Colossians 3:3 – our lives

In Colossians 3:3, the bible makes us understand that our lives are hidden in God. Key into this and know that God cares about you.
